Varicose Veins, Spider Veins & DVT
Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that appear just under the skin as swollen and raised, bluish-purple or red colour veins which usually occur on the legs.
They are a very common condition, especially in women. Varicose veins usually occur when the one-way valve in the veins fail. Blood begins to collect in the veins rather than continue to your heart, sometimes causing pain, swelling, heaviness and aching over or around these large veins. Other symptoms can include itching or eczema, fatigue after long periods of standing, hot sensations and severe bleeding from a minor trauma.
Dr Velu offers a wide range of options for varicose vein treatment including radiofrequency/glue ablation, surgery, conventional sclerotherapy as well as ultrasound guided sclerotherapy. After a detailed assessment of your history and examination of your legs, Dr Velu will ensure that you get the best possible tailor-made treatment to best suit your needs.
Similar to varicose veins, Spider veins are tiny clusters of red, blue or purple blood vessels that develop close to the skin’s surface that have the appearance of a spiderweb. They too form as a result of weakened or damaged and incompetent veins that have branched out, resulting in spider veins. They are not usually painful or harmful but can be unsightly and some people have them treated for cosmetic purposes. Dr Velu offers a range of minimally invasive and successful treatment options for the reduction of spider veins.
